The study is part of an FCPF (Forest Carbon Partnership Facility) project to support the development of Argentina's REDD+ strategy and, in particular, the implementation of a monitoring system that will allow for a better accuracy on the impact of mitigation measures foreseen in the Argentine National Action Plan for Forests and Climate Change (PANByCC).
TEREA, in association with a group of local experts in cartography, informatics and programming, has been in charge of the development of a tool for systematization and visualization of natural forest data at national, provincial and local scales, allowing to optimize the quality of the information produced and to facilitate its access to technicians of the private and public sector involved in the management and conservation of the forest resource. It aims to improve decision-making on the planning of interventions to be implemented in relation to the objectives of the NAPByCC and to carry out a register of activities developed within the framework of the national REDD+ strategy.
It is based on a preliminary identification of existing information in terms of volume, format, availability, reliability and relevance, as well as existing systematization and data visualization platforms that can be integrated into a single platform accessible online. It integrates optimized protocols, systems and computerized viewers and data loading, analysis and processing tools that allow the collection and sharing of information.
